Philip Bertram Smith, Jr., age 81, departed us to be united with his Heavenly Father and Savior on Thursday, August 26, 2021. Phil was born the 18th of July 1940 to Philip B. Smith and Cornelia Pearce Smith.
Phil was born and raised in Houston, Texas in which he graduated Lamar Large School in 1958. Phil’s most treasured recollections, while growing up in Houston, were being expending time with his beloved grandparents. He attended Davidson College or university in which he was a member of the Sigma Alpha Epsilon fraternity and ROTC. He graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Heritage. He spent many college or university summers working as a ranch hand in Montana which sparked a lifelong enjoy of the outdoor and tending to animals. Following graduating from Davidson Higher education, Phil joined the Military and served as a tank commander stationed in Fort Hood, Texas. He obtained the rank of Captain and later on served in the 36th Infantry of the Texas Military National Guard right until 1969.
In 1963, Phil married Patricia Ann Haas and relocated again to Houston, Texas in which he started his family members. Phil and Pat experienced a few little ones with each other, Philip, Stephen and Renee Clark. After graduating from South Texas Higher education of Law, he joined the law business of Vinson & Elkins as an associate in its oil/gasoline/serious estate area. In 1976, Phil and his relatives relocated to Dallas where by he ongoing his authorized profession as a associate with Locke, Purnell, Boren, Laney and Neely.
In 1980, Phil and his family members moved to rural Waxahachie, Texas. He spent his times practising law in Dallas, and his evenings and weekends taking pleasure in the peace of the nation and tending his horses. He certainly appreciated sustaining his country home, mending fences, chopping hay and taking care of his animals with a special appreciate for American Paint Horses. Phil is survived by his spouse, Jo his sister Ann Blankenship of Dallas, Texas his son Philip B. Smith III, of Hillsboro, Texas son Stephen T. Smith and his spouse Inga of Houston, Texas and his daughter Renee D. Clark of Keller, Texas.
He leaves driving the subsequent grandchildren: Philip B. Smith IV, of New Orleans, LA. Preston L. Smith, Parker T. Smith, & Patrick H. Smith of Houston, Texas Corinne B. Clark and Campbell W. Clark of Keller, Texas and his niece, Dawn Hennessey of Dallas, Texas.
He is also survived by stepchildren, Russ and Carolyn Ferguson of Paris, TX Jan and John Moon of Paris, TX LeeAnn and Shane Rost of Venus, TX Dena and Eli Rivera of Grand Prairie, TX and 16 stage-grandchildren and a host of move-fantastic grandchildren.
Solutions are scheduled for 2:00 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 4th at Vivid-Holland Funeral Dwelling with Dr. Danny Moody & John Moon officiating. The loved ones will obtain friends at the funeral home a single hour prior to the assistance. Graveside products and services are scheduled for 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 7th at Glenwood Cemetery in Houston.
