Leroy “Lee” Lewis – Obituary – Mahoning Valley

STRUTHERS — Leroy “Lee” Lewis, 78, passed away peacefully Friday (June 18) at Briarfield at Ashley Circle in Austintown.

Lee was born Feb. 7, 1943, in Youngstown, a son of Everett R. and Sophie Kotick Lewis.

He graduated from Struthers Substantial Faculty in 1962.

He attended Fort Scott Junior College or university, exactly where he was later on recruited for football, transferring to the College of Miami in Florida in December 1964. While playing for the Hurricanes, he acquired All-Time Letterwinner honors, received the Most Useful Lineman Award in 1965 beneath head coach Charlie Tate and performed in the Orange Bowl.

Lee however retains two defensive data in soccer for the Hurricanes.

Right after graduating from The University of Miami, Lee taught mechanical drawing at Struthers Substantial College and was an assistant defensive soccer mentor under head coach Bob Cummings.

Lee was devoted to Struthers Substantial College and afterwards continued coaching alongside of head coach John Santillo.

In 1974, Lee suffered a lifestyle-modifying, traumatic vehicle incident currently being strike head-on by an impaired driver. Medical professionals informed his family that Lee would not have lived if it was not for his zest for existence and how sturdy and nutritious his entire body was. Owing to the toll exacted by the aftermath of the incident, Lee experienced to retire from training.

Lee was an avid racquetball and handball participant and a Struthers High University Alumni Hall of Fame inductee.
