Betty Mae Roberson West – The Coastland Situations

Mrs. Betty Mae Roberson West, age 87, handed away on Might 18th peacefully in Williamsburg, Virginia. She was born April 30, 1934 in Stuart, Virginia to the late (Ida) Mae Vaughn and Greely Roberson. Her partner of 58 years, James “Jim” Kirk West, predeceased her in 2014 together with brothers, C. B. Roberson, Bennie Roberson, Riley Roberson, and Elmer Roberson. She graduated from Stuart Substantial College and attended Radford University, George Washington University and The Faculty of Hampton Streets where by she majored in accounting. She retired as Paymaster of Dow/BASF in Williamsburg where she oversaw wage payroll for all the US Dow Chemical vegetation and had traveled extensively overseeing payroll functions. She was a constitution member of Walnut Hills Baptist Church in Williamsburg wherever she had taught Sunday School and was a member of the choir and the WMU. Following retiring from Dow BASF, she worked together with her partner in the relatives organization, West Machine Business, Inc. Upon the sale of the company and retirement of their family members enterprise they returned to Stuart to are living out their “golden years” where she liked flower gardens and vegetable gardens, painting just about anything and all the things that did not transfer, studying and attending Dobyns Primitive Baptist and Stuart Primitive Baptist the place her father had served as minister. She was a twelfth technology Virginian from the settling of Jamestown in 1619, so rendering her a proud member of the Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR) and
