In his wonderful book On the Artwork of Structures in Ten Guides, the nicely-recognized Renaissance architect Leon Battista Alberti argues that if the metropolis reminds us of a massive property and the great home seems like a little town, then why not see the distinct parts in the property as the miniature structures in the town? Atelier Skip Lu‘s model new house is an abstract miniature building made close to the philosophy of multi-dimensional women of all ages, oozing an infectiously minimum, lyrical, and enlightening aura.

Atelier Miss Lu attracts inspiration from significantly self-mindful present day ladies and attempts to strike a fragile balance among being feminized and becoming contemporary – by remaining loyal to women’s intrinsic traits while very mirroring their individuality and modernity. Located in Shaanxi North Road, Shanghai, the project is renovated to enhance its brand identification and brand name impression.

In modern-day society, properties, roads and vegetation are interlaced and related to establish a secure environmental order, and persons in the setting are cellular. To convey independence in buy and really feel softness in firmness are the structure ideas that Atelier Skip Lu adheres to. Influenced by modern day females with rising self-consciousness, Atelier Pass up Lu tries to come across a fragile harmony between “femininity” and “modernity”: to replicate their very personal fashionable spirit while remaining devoted to their authentic attributes.

Diving even deeper into the realm of brick-and-mortar retail may sound like a risky game plan in the midst of a pandemic that’s seen iconic American companies file for bankruptcy and independent businesses shutter permanently. Yet that’s precisely what Ginger and Mario Diaz have bravely done by opening Rancho Diaz — a sizable new Pearl outpost that aims to cater to locals and tourists alike with a smartly curated mix of kitchenware and artsy home decor.

Although built on the success of their bright and bubbly Olmos Park gift shop Feliz Modern and its playful Pearl offshoot Feliz Modern Pop, Rancho Diaz is perhaps a more accurate reflection of the couple’s interests: he’s a foodie, she’s into home decor and they both love art and travel.

Travel, as it turns out, is essentially the germinating seed for Rancho Diaz — and it arrived in the form of a brass donkey Ginger picked up from a vintage store while road-tripping through New Mexico, Colorado and West Texas.

“I spent way more on him than I would ever spend at home,” she confessed. “But I always like to buy one trinket from each place [I visit] that only I would

The home decor store, located at 150 Pewitt Drive in Brentwood, announces its closure.

In a social media post, they stated,“Anyone who knows me knows that I am unwaveringly resilient, so this announcement pains me more than one brief post can convey. (I have the word “resilience” tattooed on my arm, for crying out loud). It is with a heavy heart that I have to announce that Maxi B. Home will be closing permanently sometime before the end of October. Circumstances beyond my control have forced me to face the reality that we cannot keep our door open.”

“It was always a dream of mine to curate a place filled with pretty things. I waited until I was 60 to do so and I have loved every minute of it. Part of the reason I have loved it so much is that I grew up in Nashville and I wanted to create this store as a love letter to the city and all the creators and makers in it. I want to thank — from the bottom of my hurting heart — all of my loyal customers and my team who followed me through the move and continue to uplift me every day, in and out of the store. Maxi B. Home would never have opened without everyone’s willingness to help me make this dream a reality,” they continued.

No exact date was given for the closure but they did

Santa Barbara’s Paseo Nuevo mall is getting a boost from some new retailers and the return of a seasonal visitor.

The mall welcomed Maison, a vintage home decorations store that features antiques from estate sales. It opened at 323 Paseo Nuevo.

Owner Shelley Woods held a grand opening party on Thursday night to celebrate her new business endeavor.

“I just love finding treasures,” said Woods, who’s originally from Michigan.

Woods opened her first vintage shop in New York in the 1980s. She said she enjoys visiting estate sales to find rare items.

“A lot of these people have traveled the world,” Woods said. “You never know what you are going to find at people’s houses. You just pick it up and say, ‘Wow, this person probably found this in Venice.'”

She also ran stores in Los Angeles and eventually found Santa Barbara in 2007. In 2019, she had a different shop in Paseo Nuevo, Shelly’s Hollywood.

Now, she has a yearlong lease for the new store. She has spent much of the time during the COVID-19 pandemic searching and finding valuable items that are now in her store.

The name comes from one of Woods’ loves, France. Maison means “home” in French. There’s so much Spanish-related architecture and theme in Santa Barbara, she said, that she wanted to do something different.
