Gibson – Mr. Amos Dean Sofa, age 72, was called house to be with the Lord on July 12, 2021. Funeral providers were held July 15, 2021, at Fellowship Baptist Church with Reverend Tommy Harwell officiating. Dean served as Sheriff of Glascock County for 12 decades ahead of retiring since of wellness issues. He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Gwyn Phillips Sofa, daughter, Wendy Denise Hobbs of Gibson, son Philip Eric (Kimberly) Sofa of Glenville, and granddaughter, Kelley Grace Hobbs, brother, Jack Weston (Patricia) Moody of Colville, WA, sisters, Nora Ann (Roger) Nicholson of West Union, WV, and Mary Jean Williams of Dearing and nieces, nephews, and cousins who held a unique spot in his coronary heart. Mrs. Maitland Wright Hobbs, 81, of Stapleton, Georgia, entered into relaxation on July 14, 2021. Mrs. Hobbs was born in Chester, South Carolina on September 28, 1939, grew up there, and lived in Stapleton most of her married everyday living. She was the daughter of the late Frank and Zelma Wright. She was a Warren County university bus driver for 14 yrs. She was also a homemaker and acknowledged for her do-it-yourself biscuits, she liked cooking and in particular cherished her relatives and good friends. She was preceded in demise by her mom and dad, Frank Wright and Zelma Proctor Wright her partner, Joseph Davis Hobbs, Sr. her sisters, Virginia Salina (Tommy) and Maureen Anspaugh and her daughter, Desiree Cushman. Her survivors contain her sons, Bobby Thomas (Beth), Greensboro, Georgia and Jody Hobbs, Thomson, Georgia her daughter, Carmen Cromer (Hal), Appling, Georgia her Aunt, Ruth Proctor her Grandchildren, Jack Thomas, Will Thomas and Emily Hobbs. A Funeral Company was held on Saturday, July 17, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. in the Beggs Funeral Dwelling Chapel, Thomson, Ga with visitation being held 1 hour right before the company. Joan Elaine Iddins, a retired very first grade teacher and resident of Gibson, GA and later on Doraville, GA, died of natural brings about on July 13, 2021 at the age of 85. Joan is survived by her husband, Dr. Charlie Iddins, her daughter, JoLynn Iddins, and her brother, Jerry Joseph Wilcher. Joan was born on March 14, 1936 to Irma and Joseph Wilcher in Gibson, GA.  She graduated from Ga Southern University in Statesboro, GA in 1957 with a degree in Elementary Training.  She taught first quality at Northwoods Elementary and afterwards Dresden Elementary in DeKalb County from 1957 to 1989 when she retired.  In the course of that time, she acquired her Master’s Diploma in Elementary Instruction.  She liked instructing 1st grade and totally enjoyed all of all those many years of pulling hair, calling names, taking part in Duck, Duck, Goose and Red Rover, untied shoelaces, and thumb sucking. A memorial provider was held on Saturday, July 17th at 2pm at Floral Hills Funeral Property, 3150 Lawrenceville Hwy, Tucker, GA 30084.  Donations can be manufactured in her honor to Wellroot Family Solutions (previously the United Methodist Children’s Household) in Tucker, GA. Thomson – Mr. William C. “Bill” Mabry, 81, died July 13, 2021. Graveside solutions had been held July 16, 2021, in the Westview Cemetery, with Dr. Steve Dodson officiating.
