The Small Businesses We Love With REALLY GOOD Stuff

Happy Saturday folks. We hope your bellies and hearts are still full from Thanksgiving (if you celebrate), and perhaps today we can fill you up even more with this special roundup of small design shops we adore. These are the shops we go to for inspiration, a boost in creativity, and for those exceptional decor pieces that bring in so much character. Many of them are Portland or LA-based and if you live in either area we highly recommend visiting them in person. But if not, we wanted to put their online shops on your radar so you can browse virtually and maybe even find a few really good gifts. Let’s begin.

1. Moon Friend Studio: Jumbo White Speckle Mug | 2. Nightwood Studio: Ambrosia Maple Serving Board | 3. Minimum Design: Ecotool Wooden Planter

Mantel PDX: Mantel has really beautiful ceramics by Portland artists, stunning jewelry, and all-around great finds like these pastel vases. That serving board is functional art as far as I am concerned. The circle handle makes it really special. This is also where Emily got a ton of decor for the Portland Project.

1. Gigi Candlestick | 2. French Floral King Bedcover | 3. Medium Marguerite Pendant Light

I’m far from an pro and of training course it isn’t a monolith, but to me it’s about color, sample, coziness, and a sure unstudied effortlessness…rattan, chintz, and stripes…rich record, touches of whimsy, brown furniture…brass beds, scalloped lampshades… it is just all the things I adore at the moment. My Instagram feed has slowly and gradually but undoubtedly been absolutely taken around by British designers these times, and in the approach I have started getting to be common with a ton of great British style makes. Here are some favorites who I wish would hop throughout the pond and open up outlets in NYC!

Pooky Lighting

I found out Pooky Lights on Instagram through Louise Roe and I really like their things! They have lamps of all styles as very well as a large wide range of patterned, scalloped, and pleated lampshades, so you can really blend and match and make one thing unique. The big attract for me is that they have the only rechargeable lamps I consider I have ever observed that I like. Rechargeable lamps are brilliant – for a bookshelf, a hallway, a aspect desk floating in the center of a place, a mantel…just about wherever exactly where you could not have access to a plug or you don’t want the cords around. Why there are not lots of far more pleasant rechargeable lamps floating all around
